BOCA RATON, FL, Feb 18 (MARKET WIRE) --
The travel nurse employment boom in Florida, Arizona and other warm weather
states is over for now, with travel nurse positions adequately filled for the
season, report hospitals in the Sunbelt. But new travel nursing markets have
begun to appear in the Pacific Northwest says traveling nurse staffing agency,
American Traveler.
"Midseason demand in warmer areas has fallen off, and traveling nurses have
begun
to converge on a variety of fun and interesting cities in the Pacific Northwest
such
as Seattle, Washington; Vacaville, California; and Puyallup, Washington," said
Deb
Bacurin, clinical resource manager for American Traveler.
Bacurin noted a 32 percent increase in travel nurse postings in states such
as
California, Washington, Oregon and others in the Midwest. She encourages
travelingnurses to take advantage of high paying positions and to be open-minded
with regard
to location. Although warmer climates are what often lure new travelers to
the travel nursing industry, in a Medical News Today July 2007 survey, high
pay, benefits and flexible schedules were listed as the primary motivations
for both new and seasoned professionals alike to turn to travel nursing.
Economists at the Office of Financial Management say that Oregon and
Washington State economies continue to outperform others in the nation.
Netmigration and jobs are on the rise and healthcare markets are exhibiting
signs of
long-term growth.
"The rise in travel positions in the Northwest can mainly be contributed the
trend of
people moving to the major metropolitan areas in both Oregon and Washington,"
said Hospital Marketing Director, Dennis Urbanski. "Hospital officials in both
states have recognized that they need to hire more travel nurses to keep up
with the demand on their Healthcare delivery systems."
"The lifestyle opportunity in these areas is immense and the potential for
career satisfaction incredible," said Bacurin. "Destinations listed in the
Pacific Northwest will surely bring traveling nurses pleasure, excitement and
quality of life."
