Hundreds of Wine Blogs Now Offer Something From Every Taste GLEN ELLEN, Calif.--(Business Wire)-- The world of wine blogs has exploded with estimates of their number ranging from 500 to 700 or more. These are the blogs that are the focus of the 2008 American Wine Blog Awards, the second such effort at honoring the best of this growing niche in the blogsophere. Nominations in eight categories are not being accepted at FERMENTATION: The Daily Wine Blog (http://www.fermentation.typepad.com) . "The variety and diversity of wine-focused blogs seems to match the variety and diversity of wines and wine lovers," said Tom Wark, founder of the American Wine Blog Awards and a wine blogger himself. "If your interest is in Pinot Noir, wine marketing, the wines of Spain or just where to find good cheap wine then there is a blog just for you. These awards are meant to celebrate the very best of the wine blogosphere where citizen wine writers have changed the way wine lovers educate themselves on their passion and purchases." The American Wine Blog Awards will accept nominations in eight categories until February 27 when a panel of judges will narrow down the nominated blogs to four in each category. The finalists will then be voted on by the public as well as by a judging panel to determine the winners. The categories include Best Wine Blog, Best Wine Review Blog, Best Wine Blog Graphics, Best Writing on a Wine Blog, Best Single Subject Wine Blog, Best Winery Blog, Best Wine-Related Podcast or Videoblog, and Best Wine-Business Blogging. "There is no question in my mind that wine blogs have helped new people discover wine, made people think about wine differently, brought new and unique perspectives to the world of wine and even effected the wine industry itself," adds Wark. "The American Wine Blog Awards exist to identify and promote the very best of this new and important niche in wine publishing."
