From Entrepreneur to Philanthropist, Prime Point Media's Karen Robinson Makes an IMPACT

ATLANTA--(Business Wire)--
"Some of the best lessons in business come from failure," said
Prime Point Media President Karen Robinson, featured speaker at
Wednesday's IMPACT Speaker Series, a weekly forum at the Georgia Tech
College of Management where successful entrepreneurs share their
experiences and expertise with the Georgia Tech and greater Atlanta
business community.

"If you don't learn from mistakes - yours and others' - then you
won't succeed." Robinson, who has raised over $75 million in venture
capital, discussed the opportunities she has seized and the challenges
she has faced as an entrepreneur - from the euphoric height of the
high-tech, dot-com era to the bottom of the post-bubble bust.

Following the tradition of successful business leaders like Warren
Buffet, Bernie Marcus, Truett Cathy, Al Gore and others, Robinson
conveyed how her experiences have cemented her most important values:
vision; decision, balance; and giving back.

"No matter what you do, it's critical to have balance in your life
- family, faith and philanthropy are all very important to my
success," said Robinson, for whom "giving back" means mentoring other
entrepreneurs, volunteering and supporting programs that help others
help themselves. "Success in business enables me follow my true
passion for helping others."

Prime Point Media is the third start-up for Robinson, who was
recruited to each as an early stage CEO. She nurtured and grew two
companies in the 1990s, only to see them fail due to board
disagreements and funding woes. Those experiences - good and bad -
came with her to Prime Point Media in early 2001, as it was started by
telecommunications and marketing executives.

The Company amassed the largest nationwide network of pay phone
providers, established agreements to sell display advertising on the
kiosks and developed a proprietary program that integrates each
location with demographic data. In 2006, the Company was acquired by
Outdoor Media Partners (TSXV: OPX) in a deal valued at $25 million in
cash and performance earn-out goals.

Robinson and her husband Rick Cope, founder and CEO of Nanolumens,
also manage a family foundation to help others realize their
entrepreneurial dreams. They have joined a growing trend among
philanthropists to use charitable contributions to fund programs that
strengthen impoverished communities with sustainable initiatives.
Through direct funding and investing in micro enterprise, the
foundation enables women in developing nations to establish their own
businesses and become self sufficient. Robinson looks forward to the
day when she will be described as a philanthropist first, entrepreneur
second.
