India Sun Pharma gets FDA nod for torsemide tablets

MUMBAI Feb 28 (Reuters) - Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd (SUN.BO) has received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for torsemide tablets in multiple strengths, the Indian drug maker said.

The drug, a generic version of Hoffman-La Roche's Demadex, is indicated in the treatment of edema associated with congestive heart failure and renal disease, it said in a statement late on Wednesday.

The 5 mg, 10 mg, 20 mg and 100 mg dosages for which it has received approval had annual sales of about $35 million, it said. (Reporting by Rina Chandran; Editing by Ranjit Gangadharan)
