FACTBOX-Security developments in Iraq, March 1

(Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq at 1430 GMT on Saturday.

* denotes new or updated items.

* BAGHDAD - U.S. soldiers killed six suspected al Qaeda militants and detained 13 others during operations in central and northern Iraq over the past 24 hours, the U.S. military said.

* BASRA - A British airman was killed in a rocket attack on Friday on British military based at an airport outside Basra, 550 km (340 miles) southeast of Baghdad, Britain's Ministry of Defense said.

* BAQUBA - A roadside bomb killed three Iraqi soldiers and wounded three others when it struck their patrol just north of Baquba, 65 km (40 miles) north of Baghdad, the Iraqi army said.

BAGHDAD - Two bodies were found in different areas of Baghdad on Friday, police said.

MAHMUDIYA - A roadside bomb killed one person and wounded three others in Mahmudiya, 30 km (20 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.

MOSUL - Gunmen kidnapped the Chaldean Catholic archbishop of Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad, and killed his driver and two guards on Friday, police said.

DIYALA PROVINCE - One person was killed and 10 wounded, including women and children, when gunmen opened fire on a bus carrying Shi'ite pilgrims returning from the Arbain religious rite in Diyala province north of Baghdad near the border with Salahuddin, police said.

BAGHDAD - U.S. soldiers captured a suspected Iranian-trained sniper instructor and detained three others in Baghdad, the U.S. military said.
