PHILADELPHIA, March 3 (Reuters) - Diebold Inc (DBD.N), the maker of automatic teller machines, said on Monday it would be unable to file its 2007 annual report under the required deadline as it restates its financial results after an accounting probe.

Diebold, which has been been under scrutiny by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and U.S. Department of Justice, said it would file its 2007 annual report and certain quarterly reports once it completes its review of accounting methods.

Earlier on Monday, Diebold rejected a $2.6 billion unsolicited takeover offer from United Technologies (UTX.N). (Reporting by Jessica Hall)
