(Reuters) - Hillary Clinton won Democratic primaries in Ohio and Rhode Island on Tuesday, defeating Barack Obama and keeping her White House bid on track. Obama won Vermont, and Texas was still too close to call when the candidates addressed supporters.

Here are some of their comments after the primaries.

HILLARY CLINTON

"For everyone who has stumbled but stood right back up and for everyone who works hard and never gives up this one is for you."

"We're going on. We're going strong and we're going all the way."

"Ohio has written a new chapter in the history of this campaign and we're just getting started."

"I congratulate Sen. McCain on winning his party's nomination and I look forward to a spirited and substantive debate with him."

BARACK OBAMA

"No matter what happens tonight, we have nearly the same delegate lead as we had this morning and we are on our way to winning this nomination."

"He (McCain) has seen where George Bush has taken our country and he promises to keep us on the same course."

"John McCain and Hillary Clinton have echoed each other, dismissing this call for change as eloquent but empty, speeches but not solutions."
