NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - Paramount Vantage is bent on the vengeance comedy "Beat Kip," optioning the screenplay by Summer of Tears comedy troupe co-founders Todd Waldman and Rob Kerkovich and developing the feature with Comedy Central.

"Kip" follows three struggling college graduates who find a purpose in life: to travel across the country to fight an Ivy League student who stole one of their girlfriends.

University of Southern California graduates Waldman and Kerkovich formed the Tears in 2004 and have toured the country ever since, buoyed by more than a dozen online shorts.

The Los Angeles-based troupe's slacker humor won them the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival's jury prize for best sketch comedy in 2007. The group has a TV pilot in development at Warner Bros.

Kerkovich will next be seen in the comedy sequel "Still Waiting ..." with Justin Long.
