California Product Defect Law Firm Bisnar Chase Files Suit against Camping Equipment Manufacturer Coleman in Faulty Propane Heater Case

LOS ANGELES--(Business Wire)--
The Coleman Company is being sued for having caused severe
personal injury to 9-year-old Trevor Dennis, by knowingly
manufacturing and selling a faulty propane heater, the ProCat(TM)
PefecTemp(TM) (Model 5053). California product defect law firm Bisnar
Chase filed the suit on behalf of both Dennis and his mother, Alysha
Reed.

The case is pending in the Superior Court of the State of
California, Orange County, case number 30-2007 00100173. A trial date
has been set for June 23, 2008.

On December 30, 2005, Trevor Dennis and his parents were camping
at the Octillo Wells Desert Recreation area. In the early evening,
Dennis retired to their camping equipment trailer which was being
warmed by the Coleman propane heater.

Around 11 PM, the propane heater malfunctioned, causing the
camping equipment trailer to burst into flames with Dennis inside.
Most of the trailer was destroyed and Dennis was severely burned over
much of his body. Because of this incident and the resulting injuries,
Dennis needs extensive amounts of continued medical care.

"This is looking like a case of an American manufacturer using a
faulty design, subpar critical parts from Chinese suppliers, sloppy
assembly and inadequate quality control leading to a catastrophic
injury of a then 7-year-old boy," said John Bisnar, founding partner
of the Bisnar Chase law firm.

According to the lawsuit, The Coleman Company knew that the
propane heater was faulty since Coleman had had previous complaints,
warranty claims, incidents, fires and lawsuits. In spite of this
knowledge, Coleman still manufactured and sold the propane heater,
putting profits before people.

The Coleman Company also claimed in their advertising that the
propane heater was safe indoors when it was not, according to the
lawsuit. The Coleman Company has denied the claims of Dennis and Reed.
