Bavarian Nordic reports $11 mln full-year loss

COPENHAGEN, March 31 (Reuters) - Danish vaccine maker Bavarian Nordic (BAVA.CO) reported on Monday a full-year 2007 pretax loss of 50.5 million Danish crowns ($10.7 million), in line with the company's latest guidance.

The company's loss in 2006 was 204.8 million crowns.

Bavarian posted sales of 332.1 million crowns, up from 175.3 million in 2006.

For 2008, Bavarian forecast sales of 180 million crowns and a pretax loss of around 225 million.

Last year, the company won a contract from the U.S. government for the development and delivery of 20 million doses of its Imvamune smallpox vaccine for a stockpile in case of biological attack.

Bavarian said the first deliveries won't start before 2009.

By 1028 GMT, Bavarian shares rose 3.3 percent to 265 crowns, while the Copenhagen exchange top-20 index .OMXC20 was down 0.6 percent. (Reporting by Gelu Sulugiuc; Editing by David Holmes)
