China's three largest auto makers, First Automotive Works, also
known as FAW. It produces the internally developed Red Flag
cars once favoured by Communist Party cadres. It also makes

Note: The annual results, unaudited and compiled under
domestic accounting standards, were released on Tuesday.
Figures for the previous year were adjusted to reflect
accounting rule changes.
The company said its 2007 earnings were bolstered by
expanded sales, cost reductions and a more profitable product
line, as well as the change in accounting rules.
The company had said in January that its net profit for the
year had risen 50 to 100 percent.
