Flooding in the Merelani mining area

The Merelani area in northern Tanzania where Tanzanite One operates its
tanzanite mine was the subject of very heavy rains on Friday, 28th March. As a
result of these rains, flash flooding penetrated several mine shafts belonging
to adjacent small mines on block B.

No employees of Tanzanite One have been injured or trapped in these floods.

Indications to date are that six artisanal miners from neighbouring mines have
been confirmed dead with a further unconfirmed number reported missing. Indirect
flood water entry was made into TanzaniteOne's Bravo shaft below level 17 due to
access through neighbours' illegal holings into the shaft.

No impact on production is expected. Tanzanite One is able to continue
production at its other three production shafts, namely CT shaft, Main shaft and
Delta shaft.

In conjunction with Barrick Africa, Tanzanite One Mining is spearheading the
rescue effort and has devoted its Bravo shaft to provide access into the
neighbouring block mine workngs.

The Minister of Energy and Minerals Honorable William Ngeleja commended
TanzaniteOne for its contribution towards the rescue effort.
