OREM, Utah, March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- DigitalBridge today announced it is
one of the first education software companies to successfully certify under
Release 2.0r1 of the School Interoperability Framework (SIF) data standard.
Ken Meyer, a former Deputy Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of
Education and current Sr. Vice President of Governmental Affairs at
DigitalBridge noted: "Data standards are important to any industry, but they
are critical for the education industry if true interoperability is to be
achieved. In K-12 Education, SIF is that standard."
DigitalBridge President and CEO Terry Pitts said: "The electronic transfer
of student records and transcripts between schools or school districts in any
state, or across states, requires a recognized technology standard. We are
delighted to have been one of the first companies to certify under SIF
standard 2.0r1 and look forward to further advancing the benefits of
interoperability throughout the education marketplace."
Sharnell Jackson, Chief eLearning Officer of the Chicago Public Schools,
agreed: "SIF-certified products are important to the Chicago Public Schools.
With our districts using a variety of technology solutions, data
interoperability and creative innovation are a necessity. SIF has emerged as
the K-12 primary data standard. Chicago Public Schools applauds DigitalBridge
in meeting SIF standard 2.0r1. This further solidifies DigitalBridge's value
to the K-12 education community with respect to its Zone Integration Server
and DigitalSAMS education product."
DigitalBridge's Zone Integration Server (ZIS) 2.0 is a specialized module
of its DigitalFusion Platform(TM) - a universal platform for data
interoperability and workflow that protects information as it is shared across
organization boundaries. This JAVA-coded and XML-based platform consists of
service-oriented architecture (SOA) deployed on an enterprise service bus
(ESB). DigitalBridge's DigitalFusion Platform processes the Digital
Information Packet(TM), an XML-based file structure that contains content (SIF
Data Objects in full compliance with SIF's data schema), processing
instructions, and security policy statements. The Digital Information Packet
is implemented across organizations throughout digital ecosystems according to
relevant governance structures built into the Digital Information Packet. The
solution is flexible, scalable and deployable on nearly all hardware/operating
system configurations so there is no need to rip and replace existing legacy
systems.
The addition of ZIS 2.0 extends core functionality by creating a vehicle
for horizontal (school to school and district to district) and vertical
(district to state to federal) data interoperability that is fully SIF-
certified. The Company's Digital Education Solutions convey protected
information among multiple participants throughout education ecosystems
regardless of differences in technology, geography, or jurisdictional
boundaries. With DigitalBridge solutions the focus is on the individual
student.
DigitalBridge is a leading innovator of protected information-sharing
technology for digital ecosystems. The Company provides data, document and
media interoperability solutions to the education, justice and healthcare
markets using its patent-pending Digital Packet Technology(TM). DigitalBridge
solutions succeed in education ecosystems because they integrate technology
with information, process and policy - improving both control and information-
sharing capability for individual education entities at the local, state, and
federal levels while preserving the context, security and privacy of
information in motion as it moves throughout the digital education ecosystem.
The School Interoperability Framework Association (SIFA) is a non-profit
standards organization for the K-12 education community whose members have
united behind a specification for interoperability which allows platform-
independent sharing of data between various education software programs. The
SIF Certification program is administered on behalf of SIFA by its designated
Certification Authority, The Open Group.
