BOTHELL, Wash.--(Business Wire)--
Lumera Corporation (NASDAQ:LMRA), a leader in photonic
communications, announced today that it had been awarded an extension
to a U.S. government contract to continue development of
technologically advanced wideband optical modulators. The contract is
valued at approximately $900,000; the overall funding value has now
reached approximately $7.8 million.

"This is further validation of the superiority of our
electro-optic devices and materials and, along with other Lumera
government contracts, directly parallels our roadmap to commercial
products," said Dr. Raluca Dinu, Vice President - Electro-Optic
Business Unit. "Being chosen is recognition of our performance in
meeting the technical and financial milestones defined in the
contracts."

The objective of this contract is to fabricate low Vpi
electro-optic modulators from high performance organic polymers
recently scaled up or developed at Lumera. The low Vpi is crucial for
development of phased array radar and high performance satellite
systems.
