Stratus Technologies Hosting Availability Summit 2008 Online Conference to
Focus on Business Continuity
In-depth discussions of key continuity issues are open to anyone at no cost
MAYNARD, Mass., March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Stratus Technologies brings the
continuous availability computing discussion online April 16 and 17 with its
Availability Summit 2008, the industry's most comprehensive event focused
exclusively on the pursuit of near-100 percent uptime. Stratus launched the
Availability Summit in 2007 to highlight the increasing role of continuous
availability in strategic business operations.

The virtual event, "Business Continuity: The Competitive Imperative," will
address a wide range of issues in continuous availability, including breakout
sessions covering virtualization's impact on continuous availability;
strategic planning for business continuity; emerging best practices and
technology trends; and VoIP as a business continuity tool. The summit keynote
addresses will feature Gary Beach, CIO magazine publisher emeritus, and Gregor
Bailar, former CIO at NASDAQ during 9/11 and CapitalOne during Hurricane
Katrina. The online format is designed to allow participants to "attend"
sessions most relevant to them and "tour" the exposition area by streaming
content live to their desktops.
"We're living our own mantra about availability by making the summit
accessible to anyone from anywhere at no cost," said Greg Enriquez, senior
vice president, worldwide sales & field operations at Stratus Technologies.
"Availability and business continuity are bigger business issues every day.
We're fast approaching the point where every single revenue-generating process
in the enterprise will rely on constant access to data and applications. In
that kind of environment, availability is not just an IT issue, it's a
strategic business issue. The Availability Summit is our way of treating it
like one."
Gregor Bailar kicks off the summit on April 16 at 9:30 a.m. with his
keynote speech "Breathing and Business Continuity Planning: It's Best to be
Doing Both Now." Gary Beach opens the second day of online presentations on
April 17 at 9:30 with his keynote, "The Next Big Thing in IT: Looking Ahead to
2010." The two keynotes will be followed by breakout sessions from 10:30 a.m.
to 3 p.m., with 30-minute breaks in between.
