                        CLOSE BROTHERS PROTECTED VCT PLC

TOTAL VOTING RIGHTS AND CAPITAL

In conformity with the Transparency Directive's provisions we would like to
notify the market of the following:

Close Brothers Protected VCT PLC's capital as at 31 March 2008 consisted of
23,542,956 Ordinary shares with a nominal value of 50p.  Close Brothers
Protected VCT PLC holds 2,392,955 shares in Treasury.

Therefore, the total number of voting rights in Close Brothers Protected VCT PLC
is 21,150,001.

The figure of 21,150,001 may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the
calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their
interest in, or change to their interest in, Close Brothers Protected VCT PLC
under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
