Technology Shines at 2008 NJTC Venture Conference; 'Best in Show' Winners
Announced

SOMERSET, N.J., March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- The Palace was the backdrop for
technology's royalty last week when the New Jersey Technology Council (NJTC)
crowned the "Best in Show" at the 2008 NJ Venture Conference.
Newark-based NeuroTrax was named "Company Most Likely to Succeed" and
Switch2Health of New Brunswick took the prize for "Most Innovative
Product/Service."
The annual daylong event drew a crowd of more than 500 entrepreneurs and
investors looking for the next great deal and almost 60 companies from various
sectors including life sciences, IT, energy/environment, communications and
entertainment ready to show off their innovative technologies.
"The most exciting part of this year's conference was that we showcased
brand new, never-before-seen companies," said Maxine Ballen, president and CEO
of the NJTC.
Two of the conferences returning exhibiting companies, Treadstone
Technologies and Origin Biomed, both received venture funding as a direct
result, they said, of their participation in the 2007 NJTC Venture Conference.
The NJTC Venture Conference is one of three premier financing events held
throughout the Year. In addition to the trade show exhibition floor, attendees
heard from luncheon speaker Gary Rose of the New Jersey Office of Economic
Development. A panel discussion about "how to become fundable" was also
entertaining and informative.
"This is the event I look forward to all year long because the exhibiting
companies and the investors who come out to see them are a testament to the
NJTC's work," she said. "We strive to create a business climate where
technology can flourish and the Venture Conference is a day when we are able
to see the fruits of our labor as a major supporter of the technology
community."
Exhibiting companies were offered the opportunity to meet with venture
capitalists and bankers in private sessions. Many companies also took
advantage of the option to make extended "elevator presentations" to an
audience of financiers.
