Qwest Foundation Acts Up by Awarding $25,000 to Denver Center for the Performing Arts

DENVER--(Business Wire)--
The Qwest Foundation today announced a $25,000 grant to Denver's
premier performing arts organization - The Denver Center for the
Performing Arts (DCPA). The funds will be used for the DCPA's Living
History project.

The Living History project is a unique performance and workshop
program designed to teach students that lessons of the past have
relevance in the world today. The program takes place in approximately
14 Denver high schools, reaching more than 24,000 students in grades 9
through 12 each year. Actors challenge students to respond to
questions about the scenes they've performed in plays - such as The
Diary of Anne Frank - and then pose an ethical dilemma to the class
and encourage participation.

"There are so many great opportunities for Colorado students to
prepare for the future by learning about the past," said Chuck Ward,
Qwest president for Colorado. "The Qwest Foundation strongly supports
the DCPA and this innovative program for Colorado high-school
students."

Through the Living History program, students learn to express
diverse thought based on their own experiences and cultural beliefs
while learning to respect the thoughts and beliefs of others.

"One of the key goals of Living History is the training of
teachers to become practitioners of arts learning techniques," said
Dorothy Denny, executive vice president of the DCPA. "With generous
support from the Qwest Foundation we hope to make that a reality in
2008."
