NEW YORK, March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Ruder Finn, one of the largest
independent public relations firms in the world, announced today that its
co-Founder and Chairman David Finn has published Anita Huffington, his 100th
book.
Mr. Finn has been a leader in exploring the ethical and philosophical
dimensions of public relations as well as in creating innovative approaches
that have enhanced its effectiveness and broadened its contributions.
He also has had an outstanding career as a widely published and exhibited
artist, writer and photographer. He is known as a leading photographer of
sculpture, and his books have been devoted to works from different periods of
history, including ancient Egypt, classical Greece and western art from the
12th-20th centuries. Author Alfred Kazin wrote that "no one comes close to
him as a photographer, and Sir Kenneth Clark called Mr. Finn "a photographer
of genius."
"I have always believed and conveyed to my staff, that it is possible to
have both a successful business career and at the same time, to follow one's
passion. I have been blessed for all these years of being able to do both,"
said David Finn.
The sculptor, Anita Huffington, came to New York City in the late 1950s to
study dance with Martha Graham and Merce Cunningham, an experience that
intensified her sensitivity to the nuances of the human form at rest and in
motion. From her experiences, she began to find her own path as a sculptor.
Huffington's small bronze and stone sculptures, as well as her more recent
over life-sized works, are frequently based on ancient Greek marbles and
myths, or relate to the primal forces of nature. Her sculptures possess
beauty and serenity of form without extraneous detail. She skillfully makes
apparent in her works the contemporary nature present in the spirit and
traditions of the past.
"When I look at Anita Huffington's sculpture I have a feeling that my
inner eye peers at forms that are both familiar and mysterious. They are
familiar because for the most part they represent the human figure, but they
are mysterious because they somehow express a richness and beauty that is
spiritual. This quality is hard to describe, for there is a magic in the way
her gifted hands create her works. They somehow achieve a richer and more
subtle quality than we would see in a more obvious and realistic
representation of the human form," says Finn.
Both Ms. Huffington and Mr. Finn will be present at the book signing,
which will take place on Thursday, April 3 from 5-7pm at the Jonathan O'Hara
Gallery, 41 East 57th Street, 13th floor.
