    DURHAM, N.C. and WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif., March 31, 2008 /PRNewswire/ --
The Durham Performing Arts Center has chosen Ticketmaster, the world's leading
live entertainment ticketing and marketing company, as its exclusive ticketing
services provider. The performing arts center, operated by the Nederlander
Organization in partnership with Professional Facilities Management (PFM),
will host many of Broadway's most loved shows, including an inaugural
mini-season full of world-class performances. A 10th anniversary tour of Rent,
starring original leads Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal, will kick off the season
in January 2009, followed by Fiddler on the Roof in March, Legally Blonde the
Musical in April, Oprah Winfrey's The Color Purple in May, and Wicked as the
main attraction for the 2009-2010 season.
"We're expecting audiences to embrace these world-class performances as
our new venue becomes a staple of arts and culture in the Triangle," said Bob
Klaus, Durham Performing Arts Center general manager. "There is great
anticipation and energy surrounding the Durham Performing Arts Center's
opening, and we are looking forward to benefiting from Ticketmaster's great
technology, service and expertise."
Ticketmaster will begin selling tickets to the 2,800 seat downtown venue
in mid-2008. Patrons throughout the region will have easy and convenient
access to the venue's tickets and information online at Ticketmaster.com, via
Ticketmaster's Charge-by-Phone Network, and at Ticketmaster retail ticket
center locations, including Lowes Foods stores throughout the Raleigh-Durham
area. Season subscriptions are available now through http://www.dpacnc.com.
"We are proud and honored that the Durham Performing Arts Center has
entrusted Ticketmaster to provide the public with the best possible ticketing
services as this great facility opens its doors," said Jared Smith, general
manager, Ticketmaster Carolinas. "We will work hard to provide exceptional
service and to connect patrons in the region to this new and exciting venue."
In addition to Broadway shows, the performing arts center will feature
concerts, dance performances and comedy adding up to an estimated 100 event
nights per year. Rising downtown in the American Tobacco Historic District
adjacent to the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, the Durham Performing Arts Center
will be the largest facility of its kind in the Carolinas. It will feature
impressive sightlines with the farthest seat less than 135 feet from the
stage.
