"Mr. Hernreich's expertise in the business sector as well as his extensive
experience on nonprofit boards has been instrumental in providing vision,
problem solving and overall assurance of good governance," says Michelle
Lyden, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Global Action.
Global Action is a Boston-based nonprofit organization with the goal of
driving sustainable solutions to end chronic hunger. The organization's focus
seeks to improve the health and nutrition of vulnerable populations,
especially women and children, by reducing micronutrient malnutrition in
developing countries. Global Action currently has four programs: Micronutrient
Food Fortification Program, Orphan Feeding Program, Healthy Schools Program
and Community Mentor Program.
"Bobby is also extremely philanthropic and has committed a considerable
amount of money to help launch our malnutrition programs in Africa and Asia,"
added Lyden. "He has a generous spirit and truly wants to make the world a
better place to live."
Those initiatives began in April 2008 and introduced Global Action's
programs into 20 Tanzanian orphanages. Global Action's Tanzanian partner in
the initiative, Orphans Relief Services, received considerable funds and
endorsements from President Bush and is ranked high on the list to receive
funds from the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).
Mr. Hernreich is an owner of the Sacramento Kings of the National
Basketball Association, Sacramento Monarchs of the Women's National Basketball
Association and the Arizona Rattlers of the Arena Football League. Mr.
Hernreich is President of Remonov Capital, Inc., Las Vegas, Nevada, and
co-owner of Remonov & Company, Edwards, Colorado. Both are private investment
firms. Previously, Mr. Hernreich was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of
Sigma Broadcasting Company, formerly Arkansas's largest television and radio
station group. He was Chairman of United States Repeating Arms, maker of
Winchester sporting firearms. Mr. Hernreich is on the Board of Directors of
The Vail Valley Foundation, Beaver Creek's Vilar Center For The Arts
Foundation, and The Board of Trustees of Washington University in St. Louis.
He is Vice-Chair of the National Advisory Board of the National Center on
Sexuality affiliated with San Francisco State University. He is a board
member of The Snowsports Outreach Society, an organization to benefit under
privileged and at risk youth, and The Eagle Valley Land Trust. He was a
founding member of the Youth Foundation in Vail, a past director of K2, Inc.,
The Miss America Organization, and past chairman of the board of Colorado
Parks and Outdoor Recreation.
