Envision2050 Asks Students To Imagine Their Future World Via Unconventional
Poster Competition

SAN FRANCISCO, April 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Urban Re:Vision
(http://www.urbanrevision.com), San Francisco Magazine's 2007 pick for "Most
Forward-Thinking Company," along with other leading, environmentally-focused
organizations, has launched a large-scale, national eco-literacy program
intended to both inspire and engage middle and high school students throughout
the nation.
With an Advisory Board made up of such prominent individuals as Apple
Co-Founder Steve Wozniak, acclaimed Eco-Activist Van Jones of the Ella Baker
Center for Human Rights and Janine Benyus, considered the leading voice of
Biomimicry, Envision2050 asks students grades 6 through 12 to imagine their
world in the year 2050 and present their thoughts, dreams and ideas in the
form of a poster. Complete rules, judging criterion, prizes and teachers
resources are available at http://www.envision2050.org.
"American youths are being raised in a rapidly changing global environment
that will affect their future on every level: social, economic, and
ecological," said Urban Re:Vision founder Stacey Frost. "We hope to not only
inspire the younger generation to join in the national dialogue but to also
encourage teachers to engage their students in discussing issues that affect
us all."
An expert jury will determine 20 finalists with the chosen posters
highlighted in gallery exhibitions throughout the country including showings
at the Sony Wonder Technology Lab in New York City. Numerous prizes will also
be awarded including Comet skateboards, a DW five-piece drum kit and four,
30-day scholarships to The National Outdoor Leadership School in Wyoming.
Teachers and students are encouraged to use the "Ask an Expert" feature on
the Envision2050 website and utilize the competition as a special Earth Day
project.
Notable partners of the program include such leading eco-conscious and
educational organizations as Focus the Nation, The Natural World Museum, The
Earth Day Network, Conservation International and National Environmental
Education Week.
Envision2050 is an initiative created in partnership with Urban Re:Vision
(http://www.urbanrevision.com), who is currently holding a six-part
international competition to solicit design proposals from industry experts
and concerned citizens for implementation into the creation of the national
prototype for a sustainable city block.
