                        ANNUAL INFORMATION UPDATE (AIU) 

                               10 April 2008 

Introduction

Newcastle Building Society (the Society) published its Annual Report on 27 March
2008 and, accordingly, is submitting its AIU to the UK Listing Authority as 
required under Part II of the Prospectus (Directive 2003/71/EC) Regulations 2005
(SI No 324 of 2005), and in accordance with paragraph 5.2 of the Prospectus
Rules. 

The Society is publishing the AIU via an RIS today and is making available on 
the Society's website: www.newcastle.co.uk.
