Pacific Gas and Electric Company Makes $107 Million in Property Tax Payments
to California Counties
SAN FRANCISCO, April 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Pacific Gas and Electric
Company announced it will make property tax payments totaling nearly
$107 million to the 49 counties in which it operates. This amount, which will
be paid on Thursday, April 10, represents full and timely payment of property
taxes due for the period from January 1 to June 30, 2008.
"Local governments are facing many financial challenges and must address
public safety, environmental protection, health care and education needs with
limited resources," said Nancy E. McFadden, PG&E's senior vice president of
public affairs. "Pacific Gas and Electric Company is proud of its ongoing
commitment to help fund these vital community services by providing regular
and timely payments to local governments for both property taxes and franchise
fees."
The company's tax payments to counties for tax year 2007/08 increased by
more than $19 million over the previous property tax years payments as a
result of an increase in assessments due to PG&E's infrastructure investments
and an overall increase in tax rates. A full listing of county-by-county
payments is included below.
