Following are more details about each of the seven honorees:
-- Nancy Finnegan, field marketing representative, New England Region
Finnegan is responsible for driving new business development and overall
growth
for our Maine and Eastern New Hampshire agent-customers. Since joining Main
Street America in 2000, she has played a particularly integral role in growing
Main Street America's business in Maine -- helping to nearly triple the
state's volume during this time period. She is considered a "go-to person" among
our
field staff because of her knowledge, professional manner and patience.
-- Sue Fortini, bond clerical supervisor/underwriting specialist, Keene,
N.H.
Fortini has consistently stood out as a hard-working employee with Main
Street
America for more than 30 years. She wears many "hats" in her current role,
serving as an underwriting specialist for the New England Region, as well as
clerical supervisor for our bonds unit. Fortini played a key role in the
development and testing of Main Street Station for Bonds, Main Street
America's new bonds ordering and processing system. She is described as an
individual who is always willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done.
-- Dan Palmisano, PC systems specialist, information technology,
Jacksonville, Fla.
Palmisano works at Main Street America's help desk, answering questions
anddeveloping technological solutions for our employees. Despite his often
hectic
workload, Palmisano always finds the time to come to the aid of his
coworkers. If he is unable to answer a question over the phone, Palmisano
willingly
and enthusiastically visits an employee's desk to solve the issue. A coworker
of Palmisano's commented, "There has never been a time when Dan has not been
able to assist me with a problem and deliver service with an upbeat, high
energy,
positive attitude." Palmisano rejoined Main Street America in 2005, after
working for the company from 1996-1998.
-- Jane Powers, lead business systems analyst, information technology,
Keene, N.H.
For the past 14 years, Powers has played a key role in the success of our
information technology unit. Recently, she served on the project team that
developed Personal Auto MVP (multivariate program), Main Street America's
proprietary rating program for new personal auto policies. While on the team,
she consistently worked to resolve any issues that developed and helped
ensure the project was successful and delivered on time. By conducting
internal training sessions on MVP, she also provided critical knowledge to a
cross-sectional group of Main Street America employees.
-- Teena Wasik, senior commercial team underwriter, Jacksonville Region
In her role as an underwriter, Wasik is responsible for selecting profitable
commercial lines business and applying sound underwriting judgment for Florida
agent-customers. Despite the numerous demands of our job, she always finds
the time to train fellow coworkers, while still producing a high-quality
product. Her efforts have greatly contributed to the profitability of Main
Street America's Jacksonville Region. Wasik joined Main Street America in 2005.
-- Jin Yang, data warehouse project manager, information technology,
Keene, N.H.
Yang is responsible for managing Beacon, Main Street America's data
warehouse.
Her team's work is critical, as accurate analytical results are used
internally to make key corporate decisions regarding Main Street America's
products and services. Coworkers said that Yang "instills confidence in her
team"
and that her "guidance and dedication is a large factor in the team's
successes." Yang joined Main Street America in 2003.
-- Jan Zinn, claims data coordinator, corporate claims, Jacksonville, Fla.
The primary responsibility of Zinn's role is to produce various claims
reports
for internal use. These critical reports are used to measure claims consistency
and performance. She also has successfully taken on additional claims licensing
responsibilities. Since joining Main Street America in 2004, Zinn has
constantly gone the "extra mile" to meet the requests of her coworkers.
Established in 1985, The Circle of Excellence is an annual recognition
program for
Main Street America employees. Circle of Excellence members are nominated by
fellow employees and selected by the company's senior management team for their
embodiment of the organization's core values. More than 180 nominations were
received for the 2007 Circle of Excellence. Including the 2007 winners, there
are
approximately 140 employees who have been inducted into the Circle of
Excellence.
