HSB Expands Select Warranty Program, Now Includes More Types of Commercial Equipment

The Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company (HSB)
has expanded its Select Machinery Warranty program for business and
industry to cover the purchase of new and used power and electrical
equipment, heating and cooling systems, and backup power systems, the
company announced today.

The Select Machinery Warranty is offered through equipment
manufacturers, distributors, dealers, and installation and service
contractors to give customers extended protection when purchasing
equipment. It is included automatically by the seller and backed by
Hartford Steam Boiler, a leading provider of equipment breakdown
insurance.

"The globalization of equipment and machinery manufacturers has
resulted in new brands entering the marketplace, but buyers are
sometimes reluctant to trust a new brand," said Richard Williams,

extended warranty program gives the buyer more confidence in the
quality and reliability of a product."

The Select Machinery Warranty, initially offered for process and
production machinery, now covers a range of equipment valued at
$10,000 up to $5 million. Eligible equipment includes manufacturing
machinery; power and electric equipment; heating, ventilation and air
conditioning (HVAC) systems; and stand-by and uninterruptible power
supplies.

New machinery manufacturers usually provide a warranty for the
first year. Hartford Steam Boiler's Select Machinery Warranty applies
to new and used equipment operated in North America after the standard
warranty expires and may extend coverage up to a total of five years.
The program is administered and underwritten by Hartford Steam Boiler.

Hartford Steam Boiler provides specialized claim service, working
with the owner of the equipment, the equipment manufacturer,
distributor, or dealer to get repairs completed. Hartford Steam Boiler
will assess a covered loss and reimburse the equipment owner directly
for the cost of repair, including parts and labor.
