Education Realty Trust, Inc. Announces Internet Availability of 2007 Annual
Report and 2008 Annual Shareholders' Meeting Proxy Materials Per New SEC Notice
and Access Rule

MEMPHIS, Tenn., April 10, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Education Realty Trust, Inc.
(NYSE:EDR) today announced the Internet availability of proxy materials for its
2008 Annual Meeting of Shareholders under the U.S. Securities and Exchange
Commission's new "Notice and Access Rule." EDR's proxy materials can now be
found on the company's Investor Relations Web site at www.educationrealty.com.
As an alternative to the traditional approach of delivering a printed set of
proxy materials to each shareholder, companies can now deliver a "Notice of
Internet Availability of Proxy Materials" to shareholders, provide Internet
access to the proxy materials, and provide a printed set of proxy materials by
mail to any shareholder who requests them. EDR's 2007 annual report on Form 10-K
and Notice of Meeting and Proxy Statement for the 2008 Annual Meeting of
Shareholders have been filed with the SEC and may be viewed on EDR's Web site at
www.educationrealty.com. EDR shareholders may obtain hard copies of EDR's proxy
materials free of charge. Shareholders with shares held directly with the
