SAN CARLOS, Calif., April 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- DemandTec, Inc.
(Nasdaq: DMAN), a leading provider of on-demand merchandising and marketing
software services for retailers and consumer products companies, today
announced the creation of The DemandTec Foundation, designed to enrich and
enhance the communities in which DemandTec employees live and work.
The DemandTec Foundation will focus primarily on math and science
education as well as youth development. The DemandTec Foundation is a
corporate advised fund administered through Silicon Valley Community
Foundation (SVCF), and was created in close partnership with SVCF and
Entrepreneurs Foundation, two well-respected local institutions.
"Being good corporate citizens is important to our people, and as we grow
as a company we want to reinforce that culture," said Suzanne Valentine, VP of
Merchandising Analytics at DemandTec. "The DemandTec Foundation will provide
a platform to strengthen and accelerate our community involvement in areas
where we have the potential to make a meaningful impact."
DemandTec employees are active in a diverse set of company and community
activities supporting not only education but also sustainability and basic
human needs. The company's signature program, The DemandTec Retail Challenge,
has fostered interest among Bay Area high school students in the application
of mathematics and science to solve real-world business problems; this program
is being expanded nationally this year with the help of key retail partners.
"DemandTec is a terrific example of a company that has from an early stage
included the broader community as a stakeholder. The creation of the
DemandTec Foundation is an extension of a corporate value that has been
demonstrated for years. Entrepreneurs Foundation is proud to be DemandTec's
partner to develop a comprehensive philanthropic strategy," said Diane
Solinger, Executive Director, Entrepreneurs Foundation.
