Algeria's Sonatrach says eyeing nuclear power

PARIS, April 10 (Reuters) - Algeria's state-owned energy firm Sonatrach said it could enter the nuclear power business and take advantage of the country's uranium supplies, Chief Executive Mohamed Meziane said on Thursday.

"We are developing our activities as an integrated company ... and this activity may be of interest for Sonatrach," Meziane told the International Oil Summit in Paris, adding that it could take a decade to get any project up and running.

Algeria has cooperation accords on civilian nuclear power with several countries including Russia, the United States and France, and last month Algerian government newspaper El Moudjahid said Algeria had entered two cooperation accords with China.
