Heineken shareholders okay Scottish & Newcastle buy

AMSTERDAM, April 17 (Reuters) - Shareholders of Dutch brewer Heineken NV (HEIN.AS) approved on Thursday the company's acquisition of parts of rival Scottish & Newcastle SCTN.L in a deal that also includes Denmark's Carlsberg (CARLb.CO).

Heineken and Carlsberg agreed this year to buy Scottish & Newcastle for 7.8 billion pounds ($15.39 billion) to carve up Britain's biggest brewer, whose products include Foster's, Kronenbourg and Newcastle Brown Ale.
