POWERBALL, Apr 17 (MARKET WIRE) --
Even though the grand prize was not hit Wednesday evening, Powerball paid off
in
multiple BIG ways! Two tickets in Connecticut (1), and North Carolina (1)
matched all 5 white ball numbers with the Power Play for an incredible $2
million
cash win each! Three other lucky tickets sold in DC (1), Kentucky (1), and
Pennsylvania (1) won $200,000 each by matching all 5 white ball numbers!
Nine additional tickets in the states of Colorado (2), North Carolina (1),
Oklahoma
(1),Oregon (1), South Carolina (1), and Tennessee (3), matched 4 white numbers
plus
the Powerball and had the Power Play option for a $100,000 cash win each.
Thirty tickets matched 4 white numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. A
total of 562,150 tickets across the nation won more than $13.1 million in
prizes playing America's favorite game.
The jackpot for the Saturday, April 19th drawing will be $105 million with
the
cash option at $53.7 million.
The numbers drawn Wednesday evening were 11, 16, 18, 21, 51, and the
Powerball was 16. The Power Play multiplier was 10.
A total of 113,887 winning Powerball tickets multiplied their prize by 10
Wednesday. Players were able to do that by purchasing the Power Play
optionfor $1. With Power Play you multiply your Powerball winnings from 2-5
times,
except for the jackpot. At the beginning of each drawing a wheel is spun to
select that night's multiplier. For a limited time during the current "Power
Play 10X" promotion, all prizes (except the jackpot) can be multiplied up to
10 times for the same $1 Power Play cost.
Players should carefully check their tickets after every draw. Even if there
are no jackpot winners there are always tens of thousands of winners at other
prize levels.
Players purchased $24,692,524 in Powerball and Power Play tickets between
Sunday
and Wednesday night.
The lotteries sold $2.5 billion in Powerball tickets in fiscal year 2007.
That
translates into over $725 million for worthwhile state projects.
Powerball is now played in 29 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S.
Virgin Islands.
