Data Clarity Suite to Support DCJS in Goal of Reducing Violent and Firearm
Crime
POOLESVILLE, Md., April 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Visual Analytics Inc. (VAI), a
leading provider of link discovery and information sharing technologies in the
law enforcement community, and the New York State Division of Criminal Justice
Services (DCJS), have entered into an agreement to implement the VAI Data
Clarity(R) Enterprise Software Suite to establish and maintain Crime
Assistance Centers (CAC) in designated locations across the state.
These centers are located in Operation IMPACT jurisdictions, which are the
17 counties outside of New York City that account for 80 percent of the
upstate and Long Island crime. IMPACT's mission is to reduce crime, especially
violent and firearm crime, through intelligence-driven law enforcement
strategies. The Crime Analysis Centers are a key component of the IMPACT
strategy.
The crime analysis centers will offer in-depth analysis of all Part One
Crimes within the county, with an emphasis on early pattern and trend
identification. The initiative will include enhanced training, increased crime
analyst staffing and improved field reporting in order to provide more timely
and accurate information to both executive and ground level personnel. The
goal will be to deliver a variety of products to allow for better deployment
of resources and personnel in a continuing effort to further reduce Part One
Crime throughout the region.
DCJS has partnered with VAI to achieve the goals of the Operation Impact
mission utilizing the VAI Data Clarity Suite. The Data Clarity Suite combines
the features and functions of VisuaLinks(R) and Digital Information Gateway
(DIG(R)) to acquire, analyze and share information and intelligence across all
levels and sectors of government and private industry, creating an environment
that allows users to simultaneously search all data sources, structured or
unstructured, (i.e., databases, documents, web pages, and e-mail servers) to
extract and visually analyze data; performing clustering, link analysis,
timeline analysis, geospatial analysis, ad hoc reporting, and information
sharing across many disparate organizations in real time.
Bennett McPhatter, COO of Visual Analytics, said: "Visual Analytics is
