Horizon Software Selected as Food Service Technology Provider for Los Angeles Unified School District

ATLANTA--(Business Wire)--
Horizon Software International, LLC, a global leader in software,
services and technologies for food service operations, announces today
that it has been selected as the food service technology provider for
the Los Angeles Unified School District. LAUSD is the second largest
school district in the United States, servicing more than 1,000
schools and educational centers and nearly 700,000 total students. The
District solicited proposals from the top technology providers in the
K-12 food service technology industry and awarded the contract to
Horizon Software International LLC based upon a number of criteria
including its state of the art technology, excellent customer service,
complete offering, corporate stability, its vast experience in the
K-12 market, as well as sound investment considerations for LAUSD.

"We are excited to be selected by LAUSD," said Bob Williamson,
founder, Chairman and CEO of Horizon Software. "Horizon puts
tremendous emphasis on innovation and in developing state of the art
high quality products and services. It is very rewarding and indeed an
honor for Horizon to be selected as the technology provider for one of
the largest and most prestigious food service organizations in the
world."

Horizon Software offers comprehensive food service solutions
ranging from Point of Service (POS) to back of the house management
systems including inventory management, procurement, menu planning,
nutrition analysis, warehouse distribution and more. Their product
offering provides clients with fully customizable and scalable
software solutions able to meet the needs and budget of any food
service operation.

LAUSD will be implementing Horizon's premiere OneSource ERP
solution which includes Point of Service, MealPayPlus online payment
system, as well as its complete back of the house system for
inventory, procurement, menu planning and production. It is
anticipated that it will take approximately three years to complete
the initial rollout of the project.

The Point of Sale System makes it possible for LAUSD to eliminate
meal tickets and the stigma associated with them. As a result,
participation is expected to increase because more students will
choose to participate each day. Parents will also benefit by being
able to access students accounts via the phone or internet. The system
will decrease the administrative workload of cafeteria staff allowing
them more time for meal preparation, student interaction and
maintaining an enjoyable eating environment for students and staff.
The back of the house systems will enhance the Branch's ability to
improve the efficiencies of its operations. Efficiencies are expected
to be realized through more accurate bank deposits, reduction of food
costs and enhanced revenues/reimbursements. As part of the project,
LAUSD will monitor implementation progress by tracking on time and on
budget metrics, percentages of requirements successfully implemented
and user training satisfaction.
