                   HALFORDS GROUP PLC: PURCHASE OF OWN SHARES



Halfords Group PLC announces that on 17 April 2008 it purchased for cancellation
22,767 of its ordinary shares at a price of 277.40 pence per ordinary share.



Following the above purchase, the Company have now bought back 19,544,767 shares
for cancellation, since the 8 June 2006 when the buy back programme commenced.
