STANDARD LIFE UK SMALLER COMPANIES TRUST PLC - SHARE BUY-BACK



On 17 April 2008, Standard Life UK Smaller Companies Trust PLC purchased 35,000
shares of its own 25p ordinary shares at 112 pence per share.  These shares will
be held in treasury.



Following the transaction, the Company's issued ordinary share capital is
32,061,760 (excluding treasury shares) and 32,596,760 (including treasury
shares) ordinary shares of 25p each.  The number of ordinary shares of 25p held
in treasury is 535,000.
