CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(Business Wire)--
Outcome Sciences, Inc. (OUTCOME), the leading provider of patient
registries, studies, and technologies for evaluating real-world
outcomes and measuring healthcare quality, announced today that the
U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on April 1, 2008 approved the

patient registries and real-world studies as well as in award-winning
quality measurement programs for medical associations, hospitals, and
physician offices. The OUTCOME System is a highly scalable, web-based
technology enabling state-of-the-art real-time data capture,
benchmarking, and reporting, as well as providing hospitals and
physicians with real-time access to point-of-care tools that have been

integration with external databases and systems and is interoperable
with a growing number of practice management and electronic health
records.

"OUTCOME has achieved its substantial market-leading position
through superior customer value, scientific leadership, and
breakthrough technology," said Richard Gliklich, MD, CEO of OUTCOME.
"The issuance of this new patent validates our scientific and
technological leadership in the areas of outcomes assessment and
quality measurement. We believe that the patented methods, such as
those related to reporting and benchmarking, are and will be
fundamental to how these programs are conducted now and in the future.
This patent is part of a growing portfolio in this field that we have
been developing for more than 10 years."
