Nicaragua: Seat of the 72nd Ordinary Meeting of the Central American Tourism
Council

SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador, April 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The 72nd Ordinary
Meeting of the Central American Tourism Council, headed by President Pro
Tempore Ruben Rochi, will be held in Leon, Nicaragua, April 17-18, 2008.
    The meeting will serve to introduce the joint sales and marketing actions
under way in Europe to promote Central America as a multiple destination,
under the "Central America ... so small, yet so large" slogan.
    Furthermore, the Executive Director's Office of the Central America Travel
Market Fair (CATM 2008) will report on the progress made to hold the fair in
Nicaragua in October of 2008.
    The meeting will be attended by the ministers of tourism of Central
America, namely: Ruben Rochi, Minister of Tourism of El Salvador and President
Pro Tempore of the Central American Tourism Council; Mario Salinas Pasos,
Executive Chairman of INTUR; Ricardo Martinez, Minister of Tourism of
Honduras; Carlos Ricardo Benavides, minister of Tourism of Costa Rica; Sara
Sanchez, Secretary General of IPAT, representing Ruben Blades, Minister of
Tourism of Panama; Julio Orozco, director of INGUAT; and Manuel Heredia Jr.,
Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation of the Republic of Belize, who will be
attending as special guest. Oscar Rueda Garcia, Vice Minister of Trade,
Industry, and Tourism of Colombia -- Plan Puebla Panama, and marketing
directors from throughout Central America and executive directors of the
Federation of Central American Chambers of Tourism.
    The meeting of the Central American Tourism Council will close on Friday,
April 18, with the signing of an agreement among all CA4 nations (Guatemala,
Honduras, El Salvador, and Nicaragua) to establish a tourist promotion office
in Miami, Florida, to jointly position the region within the U.S. market and
promote the tourism diversity of each nation and the region as a whole.
