Dime Community Bancshares Declares Quarterly Cash Dividend

BROOKLYN, N.Y., April 17, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Dime Community Bancshares,
Inc. (Nasdaq:DCOM) (the "Company"), the parent company of The Dime Savings Bank
of Williamsburgh (the "Bank"), announced that its Board of Directors has
declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.14 per share, payable on May 15, 2008,
to all stockholders of record as of April 30, 2008. This dividend is the 44th
consecutive quarterly cash dividend paid by the Company.
