Theater of Living Painting Presents Its Premiere Multi-Media Off-Broadway
Play, 'Michael - A Love Story'
NEW YORK, April 17 /PRNewswire/ -- On April 24th, 2008, Theatre of Living
Painting will begin showcasing its new multi-media performance, "Michael -- A
Love Story." Using film, photography, theatre, fine arts, original music,
dance, and even aerial arts, this innovative show promises to offer something
fresh and new to the Off-Broadway scene. The show, which is being held at The
Flamboyant Theatre and Gallery in the Lower East Side, will run through May
4th, 2008.
"Michael -- A Love Story" is a product of Mona Depena's imagination that
was able to come to fruition through the collaborative efforts of an immensely
talented group of artists. Depena, as the playwright and star of the show,
knew early on that she would have to incorporate a number of different sensory
experiences, from the visual images to the poignant music, down to the velvet
seat coverings in the audience. With regards to what she's hoping to achieve
with the show, Depena says, "I want people to leave feeling inspired."
Depena's incredibly talented team consists of some of the art world's
finest, including Julie Buck, an experimental filmmaker, John Plenge, a noted
composer and musician, Dianna Warren, a famed Broadway dancer, and Bill
Prouty, a classically trained dancer and choreographer.
The almost-ethereal nature of the show is set to evocatively express the
dichotomy of life and death through its featured mediums, as well as through
transitions in the color palette of the performance. The fantastical nature
of "Michael -- A Love Story" is multi-faceted and sets itself apart from
traditional shows in a number of ways: the whimsy, the color composition, the
costumes, the emotion.
Tickets can be purchased for $10 via www.theatremania.com, fellow members
of the art community can purchase tickets at 50% off. The intimate seating is
on a first come, first serve basis, and with the performance beginning in the
gallery, it is advised that patrons arrive at least 30 minutes before show
time.
"Michael -- A Love Story" will be showing Wednesday -- Saturday at 8pm,
with a matinee show at 3pm on Sunday for the duration of the show.
