LANCASHIRE, England--(Business Wire)--
The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the world's largest
provider of anti-fraud training and education, has announced the
formation of the ACFE North England Chapter, serving members in
Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds and surrounding communities.

Currently, there are nearly 45,000 members of the ACFE around the
world, and more than 20,000 are Certified Fraud Examiners (CFEs).
These fraud fighters provide critical services to businesses and
agencies in the detection and prevention of fraud.

Local ACFE membership has elected Raphael Lawson president of the
North England Chapter. Lawson is technical manager of Keoghs'
Counter-Fraud Services unit, and has held a senior investigative
position at the Serious Fraud Office.

Fraud is a serious concern to all businesses and organizations in
the UK, and "it is vital that businesses in the North have access to
the training, expertise and prevention tools necessary to combat this
growing problem," Lawson said.

He added that the chapter will "focus on raising awareness of the
fraud prevention methods available amongst businesses -- and members
will be able to access training and education programmes, as well as
locate Certified Fraud Examiners based in the North who can provide
consulting and investigative services."

The new chapter will work alongside the ACFE's UK Chapter, formed
in 1996, and will provide easier access to training for those in the
north of the country. Additionally, the ACFE opened a London office in
2007 to help serve its growing ranks of members as well as faculty and
chapter officials in the UK and throughout Europe.

The Northern Chapter's board members are Kevin Hills (Director) at
Pinsent Masons (Vice President), Tony Cearns (Director of Audit) at
Littlewoods (Treasurer), Liesel Annibal (Director) at Grant Thornton
(Secretary) and Professor Paul Barnes (Fraud Prevention Research
Centre) of Nottingham University (Training Director).

Further information on the new chapter can be obtained from
Raphael Lawson (01204 677 357).
