3rd Taiwan Int'l Motorcycle Industry Show: Spectacular Visitor Stats & Purchases Underscore Industry Clout!

TAIPEI, Taiwan--(Business Wire)--
Sponsored by the Bureau of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economic
Affairs, and organized by TAITRA (the Taiwan External Trade
Development Council), the third Taiwan Int'l Motorcycle Industry Show
(Motorcycle Taiwan) attracted a total of 1,013 international buyers
and more than 20,000 local professionals and visitors. They packed the
TWTC Exhibition Hall that was abuzz with business. With all this came
several feature events including the 3rd Queen Bike Awards that
brought color and style to the showground.

Altogether 187 manufacturers exhibited at Motorcycle Taiwan 2008,
a 13% increase on last year. They used 481 booths, a 30% increase on
the booths in the previous show. Many exhibiting manufacturers
commented that the number of visitors showed significant growth from
2007 and the orders placed have spurred dozens of manufacturers to
express their intention to participate in next year's show.

Dinli Metal Industrial said that they not only touched base with
buyers from Europe, the U.S., and Japan, but also met with visitors
from many emerging nations, and arranged factory visits during the
show for buyers from Central and South America, the Middle East, and
Africa, who expressed their intention to place orders. Those
exhibiting at Taiwan Golden Bee also indicated that this year's show
was much better than the previous one and was most conducive for doing
business -- they also stated that they'd be at the 2009 show.

Meanwhile, the folks at Sanyang Industry stated that throughout
the show they were scrambling to handle the overwhelming number of
inquiries from buyers, especially those from across Taiwan and
international visitors, particularly from Central and South America.
Sanyang stated that they also established contact with many potential
customers during the show.

In addition, EMGO used the show to build contacts with
international visitors from Japan, Thailand, France, and Canada and
received many orders. They are very upbeat about their participation
at next year's event. Parts manufacturer Representatives from Tong Yah
electronic technology also had a bullish outlook. They are very
satisfied with their results at this year's show after receiving a lot
of orders. "Of course we'll be back next year!" they told the
organizer.

And then there was BMW... In past show they had only sent
purchasing representatives. But this year was different with their
importer, Pan German Motors displaying the BMW Motorrad brand of new
heavy motorcycles.

Thanks to the efforts of TAITRA in mobilizing its overseas bases
to invite international buyers to Motorcycle Taiwan, international
buyers responded very positively. TAITRA statistics reveal a total of
1,013 international buyers at the show, a 30% increase on last year.
The largest representations of foreign buyers, by nation, came from
Japan, the U.S., Korea, Indonesia, and China, respectively.

The buyers were very positive about Motorcycle Taiwan and the
industry. For example, Silverster from New Zealand, Racing Works from
Australia, Motorkleding Center from the Netherlands, Ojsc Kyiv
Motorcykle Plant from the Ukraine, all praised the designs and
reasonable pricing of motorcycles at this event. RK-Online from Japan
further expressed that Taiwan spare parts in Japan have won a
reputation for being highly durable. That's why, they added, that
Motorcycle Taiwan was the company's first choice in procurement.

TAITRA organized several major trade meetings during Motorcycle
Taiwan. They specially flew in ten class-A buyers from seven countries
to join the show including those from Piaggio, the famous Italian
motorcycle manufacturer, MV Agusta Motor, the heavy motorcycle
manufacturer, Kiev Motorcycle Plant (KMZ), the largest heavy
motorcycle manufacturer in the Commonwealth of Independent States and
30 local professionals. Also at the show unfolded 83 trade meetings
which are expected to generate downstream business reaching a value of
US$55 million.

This year's Motorcycle Taiwan joined many renowned manufacturers.
Digiking Co., Ltd. showcased the famous Big Bear Choppers. This
American-style handcrafted legend appeared for the first time in
Taiwan to display custom welded parts and hand-made assemblies. With
their glamorous body painted with a personal touch, each unit is a
unique work of art. Yamaha Motor Taiwan Co., Ltd. demonstrated four
concept bikes introduced at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2008, amongst which
the LUXAIR, with hand-painted parts, is worth more than 10 million
dollars. Within the streamlined golden exterior is a built-in
multi-channel stereo. The bike became the immediate focus of attention
at the show. In addition, the organizer arranged a Customized Bike
Show, with more than a hundred pricey imported and local customized
motorcycles displayed. These rare modified motorcycles created by
domestic motorcycle specialists were a hit with both domestic and
international motorcycle fans.

Motorcycle Taiwan 2008 also covered many issues related to
environmental protection. In 2009 the Taiwanese motorcycle trade will
enter the fuel injection era to replace the over 700,000 units of
carburetor motorcycles sold each year to make it more environmentally
friendly. That's why TAITRA especially arranged a special primary
theme area for "A New Era for a Green Earth", Motorcycle Taiwan 2008
that featured the "Fuel-Injection 5th-Stage Emissions Standard
Pavilion" to showcase the development of FI technology in Taiwan.

In addition four international seminars were held during
Motorcycle Taiwan. These were lead by: Mr. Emil Gomez, CEO of EMGO,
who spoke on the Motorcycle Market in the U.S.A., Mr. Leonardo Caputo,
Vice President of the Piaggio Group, who addressed The Asian
Challenge, Mr. James H. Wang, Director of MSL, ITRI, who explored
Light Electric Vehicles (LEV) Development in Taiwan, and Mr. Tai-Yang
Lu, President of Dinli Metal Industrial who highlighted Taiwan's ATV
Edge on the World Market. The four seminars together gathered more
than 400 participants, who highly rated the seminars and said that
they were well worth the time.

Both the booth occupancy and the number of visitors for the 3rd
Motorcycle Taiwan showed significant growth, second only to the Tokyo
Motorcycle Show, making it one of the most important import and export
motorcycle industry shows in Asia. Gear up now for Motorcycle Taiwan
2009 coming next April 16th to April 19th 2009.
