MUNICH, April 24 (Reuters) - Japanese memory-chip maker Elpida (6665.T) has not spoken to the chief executive of German chipmamker Infineon (IFXGn.DE) about buying a stake in Infineon's memory-chip unit Qimonda QI.N, Elpida's CEO said.

"We have never spoken to Wolfgang Ziebart about it," Elpida Chief Executive Yukio Samamoto told journalists at a joint news conference in Munich with Qimonda after Elpida and Qimonda announced a technology partnership for DRAM memory chips.

Asked on Thursday whther he would consider such a step, Sakamoto said: "It's too early to say anything about that."
