PARIS, April 28 (Reuters) - Total (TOTF.PA) on Monday said it had started production at the 90,000-barrel-a-day Moho Bilondo offshore oil field in the Republic of Congo, an importanta step for the French major to meet a target to increase hydrocarbons production in 2008.

Total E&P Congo operates the Moho-Bilondo license, with a 53.5 percent stake, alongside with Chevron Overseas Congo Ltd., and Societe Nationale des Petroles du Congo.

In February, Total predicted a significant rise in oil and gas production in 2008 and reiterated its target of increasing oil and gas output by an average 4 percent a year between 2006 and 2010.
