Investment Company PLC (the "Company") advises that at the date of this
announcement the Company's issued share capital comprises 41,647,906 ordinary
shares of 5 pence each. The Company does not hold any shares in treasury.
Therefore, the Company's total number of ordinary shares with voting rights is
41,647,906.

The above figure of 41,647,906 may be used by shareholders as the denominator
for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify
