May 20 (Reuters) - German media company Bertelsmann AG [BERT.UL] is likely to appoint the head of its printing unit, Markus Dohle, to head its Random House unit, the Wall Street Journal said on Tuesday, citing a person familiar with the situation.

Dohle would succeed Peter Olson, who had run Random House for the last decade, the paper said.

Bertelsmann's recently appointed chief executive, Hartmut Ostrowski, has been looking to improve Random House's performance.

A Bertelsmann representative declined to comment on the report, but said a statement may be issued later on Tuesday. (Reporting by Ajay Kamalakaran in Bangalore;)
