TOKYO May 20 (Reuters) - South Korean computer memory chip makers including Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (005930.KS) and Hynix Semiconductor Inc (000660.KS) have raised their contract prices for the first half of May by around 5 percent, an industry source said on Tuesday.

"The market is on an upward trend," said the source, who is familiar with chip makers' price negotiations. The source declined to be identified.

The dynamic random access memory (DRAM) industry is reeling under a prolonged downturn but the market is finally showing signs of bottoming out, with leading makers seeing a rebound in contract prices since April. (Reporting by Rhee So-eui; Editing by Keiron Henderson)
