COLUMBIA, S.C., May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Lutheran Family Services in the
Carolinas (LFS Carolinas) continues to grow and add capacity to its operations
in South Carolina. To enhance effectiveness of its social ministry programs in
that region, the agency has named Ronald Huffman executive director of its SC
office in Columbia.
In this newly created role, Huffman will oversee day-to-day operations in
the Columbia office and will lead LFS Carolinas in South Carolina. The
executive director position will enhance LFS Carolinas engagement with
congregations, peer organizations and the greater community and will provide
additional structure and support for the services offered by LFS Carolinas to
SC's most vulnerable people.
"We are looking forward to the change Ronald will bring to the SC
community," said LFS Carolinas Executive Vice President and COO, John Burns.
"Ronald will be instrumental as we continue to grow, develop partnerships and
relationships, and engage those we serve."
Huffman, who has been employed with the South Carolina Department of
Social Services since 1997, will join LFS Carolinas in June 2008. In
Huffman's most recent role at the SC Department of Social Services he served
as Human Services Director. In this capacity he managed the delivery of human
services programs and was responsible for the establishment of goals and
objectives, program planning and policy implementation.
Prior to joining the SC Department of Social Services, Huffman served as
Director of Client Services for the Continuum of Care for Emotionally
Disturbed Children, where he oversaw the day-to-day operations of 15 statewide
offices as well as services for approximately 1,000 children suffering from
emotional disturbance.
