continues to transform the marketing automation industry.

Lyons retired last year from her post as Chief Marketing Officer for Visa
USA, where she was responsible for all aspects of brand, advertising and
marketing services for the world's most successful payments company and also
served on the company's Executive Management Committee.
Prior to Lyons' tenure at Visa, where she introduced the well-known
campaign "Life Takes Visa", she served ten years at Charles Schwab & Co., Inc.
in various roles, including Chief Marketing Officer and President and General
Manager of the $1 billion Active Trader business.
At Schwab, Lyons was also responsible for 4,000 customer service employees
as Enterprise President of Retail Client Services. Before Schwab, she spent
ten years at Fidelity Investments, where she held senior positions in
marketing, product development, and business strategy.
"Marketo has a forward-thinking vision that extends beyond delivering
great marketing software to transforming and elevating the role of marketing
in the enterprise, and I'm eager to help them deliver on that vision," said
Lyons. "Marketing has long been viewed as a cost center with little
accountability, but marketing affects all parts of a business. I think CMOs in
particular need to start asserting their place at the executive revenue table.
Marketo's software gives marketers more time to focus on the strategic
initiatives that are critical to business success and the tools they need to
demonstrate their real impact as revenue drivers."
Lyons also sits on the board of CNET, an online media company, and Epoch,
an executive placement firm. In addition, she is heavily engaged in civic
activity in the Marin community, especially with regard to education and local
schools.
Lyons was recently honored as one of BtoB Magazine's best marketers in
2005, 2006, and 2007. She was also named "Financial Woman of the Year" by the
Financial Women's Association in 1999 and has been recognized numerous times
as one of the 50 Most Influential Bay Area Business Women. Lyons was "Woman of
the Year" for the American Diabetes Association in 2005 and one of Advertising
Age's 2006 America's Top 50 Marketers.
"You could not ask for a marketing executive more experienced and more in
touch with the issues facing today's marketers than Susanne. Her knowledge and
insight will add great value not only to Marketo, but also to our customers as
well," said Phil Fernandez, CEO and president of Marketo. "Our mission is to
reinvent marketing automation (http://www.marketo.com/) software and enable
B2B marketing professionals to finally get the credit they deserve, and
Susanne's strategic contributions will be key to our continued success."
