Largest conference on Agile software development to feature 400 sessions

PORTLAND, Ore., May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The Agile Alliance, a non-profit
organization dedicated to promoting the concepts of Agile software
development, today announced the full conference program for its Agile 2008
Conference, set for August 4 - 8 in Toronto at the Sheraton Centre Hotel
(www.agile2008.org/). In its sixth year, the Agile Conference provides
independent software vendors, software consultants and in-house corporate
development teams with the knowledge and shared experiences that lead to
successful Agile programs.
This year the conference theme is "Expanding Agile Horizons" with the aim
of broadening the scope of Agile topics included in its program to meet the
varying knowledge needs of the fast-growing and diverse Agile community. The
conference program has almost doubled since last year with a record number of
tutorials, workshops and experience reports on offer. Attendees of Agile 2008
can choose among more than 400 practical, interactive sessions led by industry
experts and practitioners.
The conference program is organized into concurrent mini-conferences
"stages" which provide a series of sessions on a topic area designed to appeal
to both newcomers and advanced practitioners. The full set of stages
includes: Main Stage, Research, Breaking Acts, Questioning Agile, Customers &
Business Value, User Experience, Developer Jam, Tools for Agility, Committing
to Quality, Legacy Systems, Designing, Testing, and Thinking with Examples,
Agile & Organizational Culture, Distributed Agile, Leadership & Teams,
Learning & Education, Chansons Francaises, Live Aid, and Open Jam. There are
also fun sessions to encourage peer-networking such as "Programming with the
Stars" and Muzik Masti.
"Any organization or individual looking for compelling insights into Agile
development methodologies has a dedicated event to learn from industry experts
and peers that have successfully built Agile programs," said Rachel Davies,
program director for Agile 2008. "The interest and response we've had from
attendees, speakers, sponsors and industry partners have been overwhelming and
points to another sell-out conference."
Agile 2008 gives attendees unique access to the latest thinking in this
domain and bridges communities that rarely have the opportunity to exchange
ideas and thoughts. It brings together researchers from labs and academia
with executives, managers and developers in the trenches of software
development. The conference is not about a single methodology or approach,
but rather provides a forum for the exchange of information regarding all
Agile development technologies.
Agile 2008 also offers a wide range of peer networking activities to help
bring together the Agile development community, foster the exchange of ideas
that promote the profound benefits the methodologies deliver and help drive
momentum for the continued adoption of Agile practices.
