SAN JOSE, CA, May 20 (MARKET WIRE) --
SkyRecon Systems (www.skyrecon.com), the premier provider of integrated,
proactive endpoint security solutions, today announced that Thomas Garnier from
SkyRecon Research and Development has been selected to speak at the RECON
Conference,
a computer security conference to be held in Montreal, June 13-15, 2008.
SkyRecon's Senior Research Engineer Thomas Garnier was selected among a
field of candidates to speak during a 60-minute session at the conference. He
will
address reported security issues on both LPC (Local Procedure Call) and ALPC
(Advanced Local Procedure Call) interfaces on Microsoft Windows. The session
will
also focus on recent vulnerabilities discovered by SkyRecon, their
exploitation and how operating system design can be modified in order to
block exploits and targeted malware.
"Our recent research goal was to see if any use of those interfaces could
lead
into a privilege escalation. It also permits us to discover the ALPC
interface, an evolution of LPC interface and a new feature of Windows Vista. Our
research has resulted in two recent Microsoft security bulletins (MS07-066 and
MS08-002). Even if there is no single way to get higher privileges, our
discussion at the conference will highlight design and security issues that
simplify local exploitation," says Garnier.
Vulnerability research continues to be a critical component in designing
generic,
effective, and efficient layers of protection for both system and
confidential data. As vulnerabilities put workstations and servers at
risk,SkyRecon Systems is pleased to inform businesses around the world that its
StormShield(TM) unified endpoint protection solution secures critical business
endpoint systems, protecting sensitive data and systems with integrated buffer
overflow protection.
